About Us

We are an established radio control model flying club in South East London / North Kent, and have some 60 members of all ages and abilities.

We have our own club trainer with a buddy box and several BMFA approved Instructors and Examiners. You are more than welcome to pop down to the flying site and have a go at flying the trainer (by prior arrangement) We are very firmly committed to helping others young and old to participate in such an enjoyable sport.

We have a Club Room and meetings are held every Friday evening between 19.30 - 22.00. We have club talks given by outside modeler’s or companies or we have TMC members sharing their wealth of knowledge on such subjects as wing cutting, covering or even First Aid.

To join our merry band you need to attend the club room or flying field a few times just so we all get to know each other, then you fill in all the appropriate application forms (you need to be proposed and seconded by current TMC members) and then your application is put in front of the committee on the last Wednesday of the month.
If you are successful ; NOW you are a fully fledged member of Thamesmead Model Club

We fly on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday 11.00 -- 18.00.
Sunday is our main flying day and someone is normally at the site unless we are away at a show or the weather is unflyable.

Every year TMC go on holiday for a week to Filey (Nr Scarborugh) for the MAA Modeling week. Some members have been doing this for the past 20 years, but as a club we have been since 1986. The week consists of lots of flying and hopefully, when the wind is right, we dash off to either Filey Brigg or Reighton Sands to get a spot of Slope Soaring in.
We attend many shows during the course of the year so if you see us.......pop over and say Hello.
